Dr. Jorge Castillo, renowned clinician at the Bing Center for WM, was generous to travel to the Washington DC/Northern Virginia area on July 30, 2016, explicitly to deliver a state-of-the-art presentation to almost 60 of the area's patients and care-givers from the Support Group of the International Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia Foundation.
His topic, "Latest Advancements in Waldenstrom's, 2016 Update," was enhanced by many slides outlining the basics and new directions in WM, the Bing Center's latest discoveries related to MYD88 and CXCR4 and novel pathways, and frontline treatments and responses.
He was exceptional in addressing questions throughout the two-hour program so that specific topics were enhanced by patient needs allowing all members of the group to benefit from hearing these extra details. Dr. Castillo lingered for one-on-one questions from patients, further addressing personal concerns. Many grateful WM patients from the Washington, DC area sent emails of thanks to the Support Group Leader after his presentation with accolades and high compliments of his much anticipated visit.
