The Lymphoma Research Foundation and Lymphoma Foundation-Canada presented the North American Educational Forum on Lymphoma (ED Forum) on October 27-29, 2006. This 2 ½ day annual program provides people with lymphoma and their families with critical information about making the best decisions on treatment options, patient support issues, and the latest in lymphoma research.
The meeting was held at the Westin Los Angeles Airport in Los Angeles, California. Aside from the diverse lectures of the Lymphoma society, an additional Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia program option was presented by the IWMF. It was a special luncheon followed by an additional session on Waldenstrom’s. The guest speaker was Dr Steven Treon. He spent an hour educating and updating the group on Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia - from current treatments to genetic analysis. Following, there was an hour question & answer period with him.
A wonderful turnout of 150 + patients, friends, family and local medical experts came to listen and learn on the updates of research. During the event, the Bing Center for Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia organized a familial Studies and Cholesterol Studies lab. DNA was taken via cheek cells and blood was drawn for cholesterol readings. We had an overall turnout of 80+ volunteers For more information about the Familial genetics research, please contact Zachary Hunter at This email address is being protected from spambots.
